The Town of Blackfalds is hiring 12-month term Guest Services Representatives at the Abbey Center.

The Guest Services Representative (GSR) is responsible for providing friendly, courteous, and professional service by assisting guests at the Abbey Centre with a variety of functions, including membership registration, program registration, facility bookings, resale merchandise, and general phone, email, and internet inquiries. GSRs actively promote the Abbey Centre's services by identifying needs, recognizing opportunities, offering valuable advice, and finding solutions to meet guests' requests. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong computer skills with good familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively without constant direct supervision.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Check in members using the recreation software and verify orientation.
  • Intakes and processes facility bookings, memberships, punch passes, and program registrations via the recreation software system.
  • Processes point-of-sale transactions, including BOLT passes, day admissions, personal training, resale merchandise, and gift cards.
  • Resolves guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints either directly or by referring to the Guest Services Team Lead.
  • Participate in Best Practices, policies and procedures, and website review.
  • Ensures visitor sign-in, sign-out, and safety orientation are completed.
  • Processes and schedules childminding
  • Acts as an information gateway for users, community members, and visitors not only to the Abbey Centre but also to the community as a whole.
  • Follow and participate in all safety practices and provincial legislation.
  • Ensures efficient and accurate completion of guest requests and transactions.
  • Along with other staff, ensures appropriate and safe use of the facility by guests and enforces facility guidelines, rules, and ratios with active patrols, use of video surveillance, and two-way radios. 
  • Maintains records of sports equipment, locker rental, and rental lock usage
  • Implements emergency procedures during an emergency and provides information and directions for guests.
  • Facilitates training of new guest services representatives and facility monitors.
  • Acts as Fire Warden as assigned on the shift schedule.
  • Facilitates viewings at Town of Blackfalds Facilities.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required

Education and Experience:

  • Certificate/diploma in Business Administration.
  • Minimum 2 years of guest services experience, with an emphasis on recreation preferred.
  • Municipal experience and experience with recreation software are assets.
  • Experience with cash handling and point of sale required.
  • Previous computer experience required.

Additional Requirements:

    • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
    • Intermediate First Aid with CPR “C” and AED.
    • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
    • Child Intervention Record Check.
    • Valid Driver’s License with current Driver’s Abstract.
    • Must be available to work flexible hours as required.

Hours of Work: Position works 80 hours bi-weekly

The starting hourly wage for the Guest Services Representative position is $ 29.38 / hour.
