The Town of Blackfalds is hiring a temporary part-time (0.45 FTE) Facility Monitor.
The Facility Monitor term begins December 4, 2024, ending December 4, 2025
The Facility Monitor is responsible for ensuring that programs, activities, and events follow facility guidelines, rules, and ratios. Responsible for equipment sign-in/out and membership check-in at the Abbey Centre. The Facility Monitor provides excellent guest service and ensures a safe, clean, and enjoyable facility for public recreation and program purposes.

- Strong general computer skills with good familiarity with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively without constant direct supervision.
Position Requirements:
- Check-in members using the recreation software and verification of orientation.
- Renew existing or past memberships.
- Along with other staff, ensure appropriate and safe use of the facility by guests and enforce facility guidelines, rules and ratios with active patrols, the use of video surveillance and two-way radios.
- Aid in setting up equipment for activities or events.
- Help with stocking fitness centre towels and cleaning solution bottles.
- Maintain records of sports equipment rental and rental lock usage
- Clean and maintain sports equipment and its inventory.
- Aid other staff with emergency procedures during an emergency and provide information and direction for guests.
- Follow and participate in all safety practices and provincial legislation.
- Processes POS including day admissions, re-sale merchandise, and camping.
- Aid in maintaining a clean facility and grounds with light housekeeping tasks.
Education and Experience:
- Previous computer experience required.
- Previous guest service experience with POS and cash handling is preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Intermediate First Aid with CPR “C” and AED.
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Child Intervention Record Check.
- Valid Driver’s License with current Drivers Abstract.
Physical Demands
- Medium work, occasionally lifting to 30 lbs.
- Pushing/pulling.
- Sitting and standing for periods.
- Repetitive reaching.
- Exposure to cleaning solutions.
Work Environment
- Very dynamic work environment
- Various noise levels exist within the work environment
- Working with the public, there could be a potential risk of dealing with a difficult facility patron.
The starting hourly wage for the Facility Monitor position is $16.31/ hour.
The hours of work are 36 hours per 14-day pay period, evenings and weekends.
