The position works closely with Municipal Enforcement, Emergency Management, Occupational Health & Safety, and Blackfalds Fire to assist and support the administrative needs and requirements.

Position Requirements

  • Receive inquiries/requests from the public and outside agencies to initiate files and relay accurate information to an appropriate investigator for their action.
  • Respond to telephone inquiries and requests for assistance, and determine the most suitable service.
  • Responsible for transcribing meeting minutes, and statements from victims, witnesses, and charged persons when requested.
  • Maintain Report Exec database by receiving, documenting, and processing complaints for Peace Officers.
  • Provide administrative support for all Peace Officers (court packages, mailing and submitting violation tickets to the courthouse, and forwarding warrant materials).
  • Access enforcement databases such as the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) program, Justice Online Information Network (JOIN), Provincial Registries database (MOVES), and Smart Squad (Electronic Ticketing system).
  • Provide records management services including but not limited to indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, retaining, archiving, or destroying data both electronic and paper files, according to FOIP requirements.
  • Assist in the input of information into the Town’s OH&S management system as required.  
  • Provide administrative assistance to the Director of EM&PS.
  • Provide some administrative support to the Blackfalds Fire Department, assisting with file management when needed.  

 Education and Experience

  • Two-year post-secondary diploma in office administration, business administration, or related field.
  • Experience with Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) and Report Exec (Omnigo) programs.
  • Experienced in clerical support services, data entry, filing, preparing correspondence, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
  • At least 5 years of customer service experience, delivering high-quality service to internal or external clients.
  • Experience in Emergency Management and Incident Command Systems (ICS) is considered an asset.
  • Advanced computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • RCMP Criminal Record Check
    • Valid Driver’s License with current Drivers Abstract
    • High degree of personal initiative and self-motivation with effective critical thinking and organizational skills, as well as a high degree of integrity and professionalism.
    • Ability to obtain RCMP Enhanced Operational Level security clearance.
    • Willingness and ability to travel for training purposes as and when required.
    • Ability to work the occasional evening meeting to take minutes. 

The Emergency Management & Protective Services Clerk position is a full-time permanent position.

Location - Town of Blackfalds Operations Centre. 

Hourly Rate - The hourly range for this position is $30.65 / hour to $34.49 / hour.

Hours of Work - 75 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday, with the requirement to attend some evening meetings.
